I think I remember seeing a movie that had a similar theme to your comic before. It was about a guy who was in a dream and kept trying to wake up, but couldn't. Some kind of HBO production, with the title 'Blue Dream' or 'Dreaming Blue' or something like that, and had some very interesting animation mixed into the normal filming as well. It was very trippy and frustrating, to say the least. I have the feeling you comic is going to be going down the same path, though at least a little bit less trippy because of the lack of psychodelic animation.
